In 1981 components were introduced to Australia which allowed tilt-up (on / offsite) panels to be poured, erected, temporarily braced, and then crane rigging released from the ground.
Such componentry was beneficial in reducing previously on site work hazards which required the release of crane rigging from the panels by workmen climbing ladders to release the rigging of the crane from the panel.
In 1987, a Draft Code of Practice for this new componentry to be used was introduced to the Victorian Government in what has become a very popular method of construction. It was adopted by the Victorian Government and subsequently throughout other states and territories of Australia.
1989 saw the introduction of the Tilt-Up Design & Construction Manual by Hugh Brooks, Engineer, USA.
In 1990 Australian Standards produced and published an accepted Standard 3850.1 and 3850.2 in Australia and New Zealand.
